The Minson Company, L. P. began in 1958 with a visit to the Orcutt
area by the original general partners, Larkin Minor (the “Min” in Minson) and Stuart Bartleson (the “son” in Minson). Vandenberg Air Force Base was expanding at the time signaling a need for housing and retail services in the Orcutt area. Thus began the construction of the Lake Marie area with housing and the Oak Knolls area with a Safeway Market and surrounding housing tracts in 1962 and 1963.
